Everton now identify Che Adams as ‘top priority’ in transfer market
Everton have now made Southampton striker Che Adams as their main priority as the transfer window nears closure, according to Simon Phillips.
The 26-year-old, whose middle name consists of ‘Everton’, is one of a number of strikers that have intrigued Toffees manager Frank Lampard and his recent exploits will have helped that.
The Scottish international scored twice as the Saints came from behind to beat Leicester City 2-1 at the weekend while Everton were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Nottingham Forest.

Adams has been one of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s regulars for multiple seasons now but that hasn’t stopped interest in his services and Phillips thinks the Everton think tank could play a major role in talks.
“I’ve been told that Che Adams is the top priority there for Lampard at least,” Phillips said to Give Me Sport. “But, obviously, at Everton, he’s got the board there, and the decisions are not just Lampard’s.”
Menace
It doesn’t take a footballing genius to realise that having only one fit and available striker at the club is not the best way to go about building a squad for the upcoming season.
And when you consider Salomon Rondon’s poor performance at home to Steve Cooper’s Forest on Saturday, the need for a new number nine is greater than ever before with Dominic Calvert-Lewin sidelined.

It will be encouraging for Evertonians to hear that there are priorities being decided and hopefully moves being made in the near future with the transfer deadline rapidly approaching.
Adams already has that Premier League experience as well as on the international stage which just eradicates one potential hurdle and makes life slightly easier for the Toffees.
But Lampard needs the Everton hierarchy to back him in this move and trust that his targets are right for the good of the club from the off.
