Don Hutchison tells Everton to sell Anthony Gordon and sign one of three Premier League striker

Former Everton ace Don Hutchison has told the club to accept Chelsea’s bid for Anthony Gordon and move for one of three Premier League strikers to replace him.

The Toffees are considering a bid worth an initial £50m plus a further £10m in add-ons, and the player has told them he wants to make the switch to play Champions League football.

While Everton consider their position, former midfielder Hutchison took to his personal Twitter account and shared what he would do in that situation.

“I would sell and move for either [Ollie] Watkins, [Ivan] Toney or [Danny] Ings,” he said.

Watkins and Ings are currently teammates at Aston Villa, while Toney is the main man at Brentford and have all started the season in good form with solid performances and goals.

Ideal

If Everton were smart they would be all over this suggestion to get a proven Premier League goalscorer into the club.

It’s something the team has been desperate for all season, with Richarlison leaving for Tottenham and Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling with injuries again it was a necessity in the transfer window even before Gordon’s exit became inevitable.

Everton

All of Watkins, Ings and Toney are likely to cost around £40m or more and are going to be very difficult to sign such is their importance to their current team, but Everton need to do something in the market to make a statement after losing two of their best players.

It won’t be easy, obviously, but if the club want to avoid a relegation battle and the wrath of the fans after making the sale then replacements must be brought in before the window closes next Thursday.

Someone proven needs to come in and take responsibility to scoring the goals that will save the team from yet another relegation scrap, because that is now a very real possibility.
