Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin set to join Trabzonspor

Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is reportedly following Dele Alli out of the exit door as he’s set to join Trabzonspor.

According to Turkish media outlet Aspor, the 26-year-old will arrive in Trabzon today, August 25, to finalise his exit on loan.

The Toffees will not be getting a loan fee in exchange for his services this summer.

Alli is set to join another Turkish club in Besiktas and Everton will not be paying his salary despite there being claims to the contrary.

Big money flop

Gbamin’s Everton career never really kicked off and he can be labelled as one of the worst signing’s in the club’s history.

In 2019, there was much intrigue and hype surrounding the Ivory Coast international’s move to Goodison Park as he was addressing an important position in the squad.

Per the BBC, they paid £25million to sign him from Mainz as he was seen as a replacement for Idriss Gueye who left for PSG for a slightly higher transfer fee.

However, injuries plagued his time on Merseyside and Gbamin never really got a run of games at the club to prove why they paid so much money for him.

His attitude also never really seemed to help and he failed to win over any manager during his three years at the club.

We’re unsure if there is an option or obligation to buy in this loan move, but the sooner he’s off the books at Goodison Park, the better it will be for everyone involved.
