Everton want to sign Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga in loan deal

Everton are considering the idea of signing Manchester United’s Swedish winger Anthony Elanga on loan, according to the Daily Mail.

The 20-year-old was almost a regular for the Red Devils last season with 27 appearances across the campaign under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

He also made his first start of the season against Liverpool as Erik Ten Hag secured his first win in his new job but United are trying to sign Ajax wonder Antony in a move that could be worth £80million.

If they do manage to sign the Brazilian, the door would open to Elanga’s temporary exit from Old Trafford and the Toffees are keen to add him to their squad.

The move will likely be accelerated if Chelsea manage to poach Anthony Gordon away from Everton with a new bid that could get close to his valuation potentially on its way to Merseyside.

How many Anthony/Antony’s can be involved in one deal?

One in and one out could happen at both Carrington and Finch Farm before the transfer window closes on 1 September but the deal might not work out brilliantly for Everton.

Frank Lampard would prefer to keep the 21-year-old local boy having seen first-hand how good he has been since his emergence in the first team last season but money talks and he may leave the club regardless.

If that does happen, then Elanga on loan might be the best option to replace Gordon having looked the part in the first half against the Red side of the city where he assisted Jadon Sancho’s opening goal.

His direct running and impressive speed is exactly what has seen Gordon endear himself to the Goodison Park faithful and he comes with experience that few 20-year-olds do in football nowadays.

But Everton will have to wait for the Anthony/Antony merry-go-round to finish before making their move.
