Everton wanted Southampton ace Che Adams but prioritise move for Blackburn striker Ben Brereton Diaz
Everton reportedly wanted to sign Southampton striker Che Adams but are focused on different targets like Ben Brereton Diaz.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there was interest in the Scotland international but he does not seem to be the priority as things stand.
This comes after Sky Sports reported that Southampton were looking at a fee in the region of £25million to sign the striker.
Via Twitter, Romano shared the Saints boss’ quotes and said, “Ralph Hasenhuttl on Che Adams: ‘I can categorically say he is our player and will not be sold this summer.’
“Everton wanted Che Adams but they are now also focused on different targets, like Ben Brereton Díaz.”
Makes sense
Adams would’ve been a decent signing but so will Diaz and only the latter seems attainable with the Saints hell-bent on keeping hold of the former.
A valuation has emerged but they probably will only sell if Adams asks for a move away from the St Mary’s Stadium this summer.
It’s understood that they’re going to be prioritising a move for the Chilean and are emerging as frontrunners to sign him.
They are prepared to shell out £12million to secure his services and have already launched a formal move with Leeds United still in the queue.
This clearly puts them in a good position and all they need to do is cough up a few millions before the player is theirs.
However, they will have to be quick as there are only few days left before the window closes and many teams will want to sign the striker.
