Everton want to sign Jaidon Anthony as a replacement of Anthony Gordon

Everton are considering a move for Bournemouth winger Jaidon Anthony as a possible replacement for Anthony Gordon, according to Evening Standard.

The Toffees are looking increasingly likely of losing their star winger who has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

As per the latest report, the Merseyside club are evaluating the possibility of signing Anthony and are competing with newly-promoted side Nottingham Forest.

The report further stated that the 22-year-old’s future at his current club is uncertain as he is in the final year of his contract.

One for the future

Everton came in this transfer window knowing that they will lose one out of Richarlison or Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

However, losing someone like Gordon, too at a time when the side are clearly struggling to overcome the loss of the Brazil international who joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the summer, will be a serious blow.

Therefore, it makes total sense that with so little time left in the transfer window, they are looking at players who can play in a similar position.

Anthony can be that player but whether he will be able to fill the void which will be created with the departure of Gordon, only time will tell as he has only played a solitary match in the Premier League.

Anthony has been a Bournemouth academy player and was promoted to the senior team in the summer of 2020.

Since then, he has played 57 matches across all competitions for his current club and managed to score eight goals and provided eight assists as well [Transfermarkt].
