Fabrizio Romano: Neal Maupay at Finch Farm as Frank Lampard decides on next Everton signing
Fabrizio Romano claims Neal Maupay was at Finch Farm on Thursday and the Brighton striker has completed the second part of his medical to join Everton.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Friday morning (26 August), the Guardian journalist reported that Maupay, 26, is set to sign a three-year deal with the Toffees.
Romano has also mooted at a next potential signing at Goodison Park, saying that Frank Lampard is now set to make a decision “soon” on whether to sign Blackburn forward Ben Brereton Diaz.
Brereton Diaz next?
Everton need this.
Maupay hasn’t been the most prolific of strikers in the Premier League with Brighton but he’s a lot better than the current striker options at Lampard’s disposal.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury issues are endless and Salomon Rondon is just hopeless.
Maupay has scored 26 times and supplied eight assists in 102 Premier League appearances for Brighton.
It’s not the worst record but he’s not prolific.

Maupay’s link-up play is good though and he could bring the likes of Anthony Gordon into play more if the England Under-21s ace stays put at Goodison Park.
However, we feel that if Brereton Diaz is also joining, Gordon could be on his way.
The 23-year-old Chile international, who was born in Stoke, is a striker who can play on the left-wing and has spent this season out wide so far for Blackburn.
If we sign him, it could mean he’s Gordon’s replacement and we’ll be seeing him and Maupay lining up alongside one another in the attack for the coming weeks until at least Calvert-Lewin is back from injury.
