Frank Lampard reveals ‘red line’ for departure of Everton winger Anthony Gordon

Frank Lampard has stated that there is a “red line” for Chelsea to make a move and sign Everton winger Anthony Gordon.

The England Under-21 international has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer with the Blues leading the charge.

Lampard, while talking to the media on Friday ahead of Everton’s trip to Brentford, stated that the club’s hierarchy has drawn a “red line” for the departure of Gordon and that it is very close.

“We have drawn a red line [for the departure of Gordon],” he said as quoted by 90min. “It is very difficult.

“I got asked last week, ‘Will he [Gordon] be here at the end of the window?’ It was an impossible question to answer, really. But I am working to try and put a squad together.

“There absolutely has to come a time where we understand what the squad is going to be, especially a player of the level of Anthony.

“I have to know he is going to be here and the good thing is here at the club, myself and everybody involved upstairs has the same kind of thinking.

“I won’t say where it [the cut-off point] is, but I think you understand I am getting very close to it.”

Everton

Important

Everton entered the transfer window knowing that they will have to find a replacement of either Richarlison or Dominic Calvert-Lewin as both were heavily linked with a move away from the club.

On Friday, the Toffees finally managed to sign a striker in Neal Maupay as a replacement for the Brazil international who left the club and joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the summer.

Despite that good news, there is a genuine concern at Goodison Park as well and that is regarding the future of their star winger Gordon.

With so little time left in the transfer window, it is becoming a case of now or never for the Merseyside club to decide whether to sell the player or not or else they will be in a difficult situation if the player is sold at the very end of the window.

Gordon has represented Everton in 63 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score four goals and provided eight assists in the process [Transfermarkt].
