Everton ready to pull trigger to sign Idrissa Gana Gueye – Paul Brown
Everton are now ready to make the final steps in order to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye, according to Paul Brown.
The 32-year-old is on the transfer list at the Parc Des Princes as he is not in new manager Christophe Galtier’s plans for the 2022-23 campaign and his high wages have contributed to that.
The Toffees are attempting to bring him back to Merseyside after three years away in the French capital but the Senegalese international is trying to get favourable terms to leave PSG.

“Everton are ready to pull the trigger on that. They have a deal agreed with the player,” Brown said to Give Me Sport. “The problem is whether he can negotiate the sort of exit he wants from PSG.
“That’s been a problem so far and I don’t think anyone knows whether PSG will ultimately agree to let him go under the terms that he’d like to. I think it’s a waiting game there essentially.”
Sands of the hourglass
A waiting game is not going to last very long for Everton or Gueye because the time left in the transfer window is diminishing rapidly.
There are only five days left before the deadline slams shut on 1 September and if the 32-year-old is not out of Paris and settled back into Liverpool life then he could be in for a miserable few months.

As could the Toffees who could do with that midfield steel to compliment the box-to-box energy of Amadou Onana and given their poor start, they cannot afford to wait until January.
Frank Lampard will be having an extremely frantic few days at Goodison Park trying to make multiple additions to his squad before the 11pm deadline.
He will need the new recruits too to avoid a repeat of last season’s struggles that could easily happen again with just one point gained from a possible 12 so far this campaign.
