Everton miss out on Billy Gilmour as Lampard eyes James Garner
Everton are likely to miss out on Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour, as per Fraser Fletcher.
The journalist, who has also worked for BBC, has reported on Twitter (29 August) that Gilmour is getting closer to a permanent move to Brighton.
The Toffees have shown an interest in signing him this summer, but Frank Lampard appears to have turned his attention towards Manchester United’s youngster James Garner instead.
Crucial next few days
The next few days are absolutely vital for the Toffees.
Chelsea are likely to come up with another offer for Anthony Gordon, and if the bid is accepted, it would provide Frank Lampard with the injection of cash he needs to bring in more players.
The Toffees have been linked with a host of players, but it seems adding another striker and a central midfielder still remains a priority for Lampard.

The Daily Mail reported on 24 August that Manchester United are demanding a fee of £14 million plus add-ons for their highly-rated 21-year-old.
Garner impressed on loan at Nottingham Forest last season, and Everton want to secure his signing before the end of the window. In fact, the interest in the youngster ended all hopes of a reunion with Gilmour.
He is a product of United’s youth academy and has made a handful of appearances for the Red Devils.
Gilmour is a technically gifted midfielder and Lampard knows him well, but it seems he is moving to Brighton instead.
