Everton continue talks to sign Blackburn Rovers attacker Ben Brereton Diaz

Everton are reportedly continuing talks to sign Blackburn Rovers attacker Ben Brereton Diaz ahead of the transfer deadline.

According to 90Min, even after the signing of Neal Maupay from Brighton, the Toffees still want to sign the 23-year-old Chile striker.

It’s understood that have already launched a formal move for Diaz and are willing to pay £12million to sign him.

Makes sense

Diaz may be a number nine, but he is versatile enough to play in any of the three attacking positions.

Given Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury record and form, he is likely to feature down the middle, possibly alongside Maupay in a two-man attack.

However, even if Frank Lampard wants to play one up front, then Diaz is undoubtedly the better option to the former Brighton striker.

The Toffees are not giving up their chase to sign him and it’s refreshing to see, given how disastrous this transfer window has been thus far.

Everton need quick reinforcements, especially after how the season has started and they do not want another relegation battle on their hands.

Blackburn are believed to be looking for a fee in the region of £15million so the onus is now on the Toffees to cough up the remaining money or convince the Lancashire outfit to lower their valuation.

Another attacker is key for Everton and it seems like they have narrowed in on Diaz.
