Everton back Frank Lampard and inform Anthony Gordon he isn’t going to Chelsea
Everton have backed manager Frank Lampard and told Chelsea they won’t be signing Anthony Gordon no matter the offer, according to 90min.
The London side had made multiple bids for the Toffees’ homegrown star, going as high as £60million without the offers being accepted while the manager throughout wanted him to stay.
Gordon, 21, had previously expressed an interest in making the move to Stamford Bridge, although he remained in the side and his performances haven’t slipped, scoring in each of the past two matches.

Following the 1-1 draw at Leeds United on Tuesday night (30 August) Lampard made clear he felt the deadline for an exit had past and that his young star should now stay.
And he has now been supported in that stance by the club, with the latest report stating: “Sources have now confirmed to 90min that Everton officials have accepted Lampard’s opinion and have informed Chelsea that Gordon will not be sold this summer, no matter the offer.”
Lift
Amid the double-boost that Idrissa Gueye and James Garner are on their way into the club this is perhaps the biggest positive development of all.
With the much-publicised financial situation at the club an offer of the size that Chelsea were willing to shell out for Gordon was always going to attract their attention.
It felt inconceivable that the club’s latest academy product turned first-team star should leave the club so soon, especially on the back of Richarlison’s sale earlier in the window.

But there were periods over the past week where it seemed like Todd Boehly’s millions were going to turn things in their favour.
After two goals that have gained two of the club’s three points so far this season, at Brentford and then at Elland Road, it looks like the hierarchy have come round to Lampard’s way of thinking and see how crucial Gordon is to what happens on the pitch.
Rather than looking to replace him they can now focus on building around him in the final hours of the window, with the midfield department looking heavily stocked now.
