Everton target Leander Dendoncker now 50/50 to leave Wolves today

Leander Dendoncker is now 50/50 to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers on deadline day with Everton in pursuit, according to Sky Sports.

The Belgian international has been the target of a move from the Toffees as well as West Ham United and Aston Villa with the latter leading the way having offered £12million [Mike McGrath].

Frank Lampard has identified the 27-year-old as a potential midfield target but the signing of Amadou Onana and almost completed moves for Idrissa Gana Gueye and James Garner have added more competition.

Everton

The Sky Sports Transfer Centre [1 September, 10:10am] stated that Wolves would only allow Dendoncker to leave the club on deadline day if they could bring in a replacement in time.

The Belgian was an unused substitute by Bruno Lage on Wednesday night as Wolves laboured to a 0-0 draw away at Bournemouth under their caretaker manager following Scott Parker’s sacking.

Too many

With Onana, Gueye and Garner, Lampard has massively improved his midfield department already and Dendoncker would not offer much else to add other than two more legs.

Everton

His versatility to be able to play in defence might be the deciding factor for Everton who could always do with extra cover at centre-half now Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina are injured but they’ve brought two players in there as well.

There are other areas where the Toffees could do with a new face to challenge, most notably out wide and upfront, and it would be harsh on Alex Iwobi to bring in a trio of players to replace him after a good start to the new season.

Everton are currently teetering above the relegation zone after a slow start to the campaign and that has sparked a lot of transfer activity in the final few days of the window and it looks set to remain very busy at Finch Farm well into the night.
