Chris Sutton predicts Everton defeat v Liverpool in Merseyside Derby
Chris Sutton has predicted that Everton will suffer a close defeat when they face Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday (03 September).
Both sides will clash in the Premier League matchday six fixture at Goodison Park with a much-needed win on the line for the Blues and Frank Lampard.
Sutton, in a column for BBC, expects a tougher fixture than the teams had last season but still believes that the Reds will be good enough to get the better of the Toffees.

“Everton haven’t won a game yet and they are not going to start here,” he wrote. “They’ve got Idrissa Gueye back and Neal Maupay should be available.
“Liverpool won comfortably at Goodison last season. I don’t think it will be easy for them but I expect them to come out of the right side of it.”
Big test
Everton’s start to their new campaign have been anything but great where they are only one of the three teams to have not registered a single win in their first five matches.
On the good side of things, the Toffees have not suffered a defeat after losing to Aston Villa on August 13. Following that result, the side have managed to secure back-to-back draws against Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Leeds United.

Next up for the Merseyside club will be their city rivals Liverpool who are on a bit of a role after winning back-to-back matches against Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
Frank Lampard will be hoping that two new additions on the deadline day will boost the overall morale of the squad and the players will be able to do something they’ve not done for more than a decade which is to beat Liverpool at Goodison Park.
Overall, both teams have met 60 times in Premier League history where the Reds have a clear edge with 26 wins compared to 10 victories of Everton whereas 24 matches ended in a stalemate [Transfermarkt].
