Alex Iwobi recent performances for Everton means bad news for Abdoulaye Doucouré
The 2022-23 season for Everton thus far has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride.
The Toffees started the transfer window with not much activity and it took them a while to start signing players to strengthen the squad.
On the pitch, the side suffered a similar fate as they lost the first two matches before drawing the next four, the most recent of which came against Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday.

Star Iwobi
While there were a number of players who were simply outstanding for Everton on the day against their same-city rivals, one player who stood out was Alex Iwobi.
The 26-year-old was a real workhorse in the middle of the park as he kept running throughout the match and made sure that he would cover every inch on the ground.
Iwobi’s yesterday’s performance was something like Franck Kessié did during his stay with AC Milan where he was the driving force from the middle of the park.

What’s even more impressive about the Nigeria international was the fact that he was not a central midfielder and has turned himself into one of the most consistent performers under Frank Lampard.
His performance yesterday could also turn out to be a concerning one for Abdoulaye Doucouré who is recovering from an injury and he will have to fight to reclaim his place in the middle of the park.
