Everton Premier League fixture vs West Ham United set to go ahead next weekend

Everton are set to be able to host West Ham at Goodison Park in the Premier League next weekend despite The Queen’s funeral, according to The Mirror.

The Toffees saw their clash with Arsenal at The Emirates called off this weekend following Her Majesty’s death on Thursday, with the FA calling off all games in the country as a mark of respect.

There had been concerns about next week’s fixtures too due to the funeral, but with that now confirmed to be taking place on Monday 19 September the Premier League is set to resume action over the weekend.

The EFL have already given the green light for their leagues to return for the midweek round of fixtures and John Cross says the Premier League are set to follow suit.

Everton are winless so far this season but have drawn each of their last four games, while West Ham have just one win and one draw from their first six games of the season.

Excellent

It’s been maybe the worst weekend in recent memory with no Premier League football this week, and it’s the right decision to bring that to an end.

The decision to cancel these games had pros and cons but with the schedule so packed and the funeral taking place on a day with no games scheduled, it makes complete sense for them to go ahead.

Everton will be happy about the fact they got an extra week of rest to try and get some players closer to full fitness as they go in search of their first win, and Lampard tries to integrate new signings.

The clash with West Ham in front of a fired up Goodison Park crowd will be a great way to return, especially with a two week international break to follow immediately after, so the players will have no excuse but to give everything in that game.

It’s a great chance to earn a first win against a side out of rhythm, and the players should be raring to go after an unexpected weekend off.
