Everton trio Amadou Onana, Vitalii Mykolenko and Anthony Gordon named among best in position by CIES
Everton trio Amadou Onana, Vitalii Mykolenko and Anthony Gordon have been named among the best U25 players in their position by CIES.
A study by the CIES observatory took a look at the top ten under 25 players across the world in specific player profiles and positions, and the Toffees trio were listed among the best for their roles.
Amadou Onana (Air blocker filter man), Vitalii Mykolenko (ground blocker filter man), Anthony Gordon (shooter infiltrator) each made the top ten, showing how well stocked the Everton squad is currently.

Onana’s points saw him behind Jules Kounde, Edson Alvarez, Luke Thomas, Takehiro Tomiysau and Hector Martinez after being assessed on air defence and recovery, while Mykolenko was eighth in his role for ground defence and recovery.
Gordon ranked behind Rafael Leao, Kylian Mbappe, Jamal Musiala, Davide Frattesi and Antony after being assessed on shooting and take ons.
Talent
Everton have done really well to rebuild their squad over the last 12 months and bring the age and profile of the squad down from where it was.
The likes of James Rodriguez, Andre Gomes and Lucas Digne have been moved on and these three young talents have stepped up to claim regular spots in the side and arguably made the team better.

After barely avoiding relegation last season, Frank Lampard paid over £30m for Onana to come in and make the team stronger while Gordon has stepped up hugely and had major interest from the likes of Chelsea in the summer.
It’s a great sign that Everton have changed their transfer strategy to take care of their future plans and still managed to improve the side to push on this season and hopefully move away from a relegation battle.
With four draws from their opening six games they’re certainly more competitive now than they were and if they can turn those into wins then they’ll be absolutely set for the future.
