Everton confirmed XI v West Ham

Frank Lampard has named his Everton side to take on West Ham in the Premier League later today in this relegation six pointer.

Both sides have started the season awfully and would be looking for a win to move further away from the drop zone.

The Toffees, who had a relegation-threatened campaign in 2021/22, will be looking to avoid the mistakes this time around.

There is no Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the matchday squad despite suggestions that he was ready to return.

Good squad

Everton have the second best defensive record in the Premier League this season with only six goals conceded.

For all the criticism thrown at Lampard’s way for not being able to coach a defence properly, he’s managed to do it with the right players.

Bringing in Conor Coady has been important as he’s not just a solid player in a back three but is also vocal and has a strong voice inside the dressing room.

Even James Tarkowski has been exceptional since his free transfer to Goodison Park in the summer.

It will be interesting to see whether or not Everton take the initiative here today as West Ham are a team that likes to sit back and let the opponent dictate play.

It may even end up being a scrappy contest with both sides playing on the counter and relying on set pieces or a rare moment of brilliance for the win
