Frank Lampard refuses to rule out Allan exit from Everton, left out vs West Ham United
Frank Lampard has refused to rule out Everton midfielder Allan leaving the club in the next couple of weeks after he was left out of the squad against West Ham.
The Brazilian was linked with a move back to Serie A during the summer, with a potential reunion with Maurizio Sarri at Lazio or a move to Roma mooted, but that never materialised.
After the Toffees signed three new central midfielders during the window in Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye and James Garner, there has been interest from clubs in the UAE to take the former Napoli star away from Goodison.
Lampard left Allan out of the Everton squad to face West Ham on Sunday afternoon as they claimed a 1-0 win and after the game he admitted it was simply a selection decision and refused to rule out his exit, as quoted by Liverpool ECHO journalist Joe Thomas on his personal Twitter account.
Simple decision
Lampard has hinted at several decisions being made over Allan, but it doesn’t seem to be that they’re that difficult to make in all honesty.
As it stands all of Onana, Gueye, Garner, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Tom Davies are ahead of him in the pecking order and if there is interest in him from another club it is in everyone’s best interests for him to move on.
He is likely to be on relatively high wages at the club and if he’s sixth choice then there is no value there, while he is going to want to play regularly even if it is at a lower level than he is used to.
The alternative for everyone is waiting until January to get him a move in Europe, but that would see months of both parties being unhappy and it seems more likely this move to the Middle East takes place.
The squad was really well built in the summer and that continues to take place even after the window has shut, so Lampard and Kevin Thelwell deserve credit for the job they’ve done.
