Everton-linked Mohammed Kudus finally speaks about failed Merseyside move

Ajax sensation Mohammed Kudus has come out to speak about his failed summer move to Everton after a late bid was made for the Ghanaian.

The 22-year-old, born in the country’s capital of Accra, was the subject of a £30million bid from the Toffees late in the summer window and he was even missing training to try and force a move through but the Dutch champions stood firm.

They had already lost Lisandro Martinez and Antony that summer and were unwilling to lose more players with no financial need to do so but Kudus still wanted the move.

Everton

“Everton offered me a great opportunity and I wanted to try it,” Kudus said to NOS. “No footballer wants to sit on the bench and neither do I. Although I understood that not everyone can play all the time, Everton seemed like a good option at the time.”

“It wasn’t that I didn’t want to train, but I’m human and had a lot to deal with in a very short time. The chapter is now over and I’m still here.”

January

Everything Kudus says there seems to suggest that if Everton were to return to the race in January, he would be very willing to come but the Champions League might throw a spanner in those works.

The Ghanaian international has scored in both of Ajax’s games so far in this season’s competition at home to Rangers and away at Liverpool where they very nearly took a point off Liverpool.

Everton

His electric start to the European season has seen a lot of eyes drawn to him and his price tag will be going up with every kick of the ball at this rate but there is still hope.

Ajax have a very tough task to overcome the Reds and Napoli, who destroyed Jurgen Klopp’s side in Italy, so if they drop into the Europa League, that might be Kudus’ indication to push for an exit.

He won’t be getting any European football at Goodison Park this season or next but with the move to the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium on the horizon, things are only going up for the Toffees and that might convince him.
