Silky stat shows Nathan Patterson’s importance to Everton backline
Nathan Patterson has had a terrific start to the season for Everton and now the Scotland international has a bone-crunching stat to back it up.
Patterson made the switch to Goodison Park last summer from Scottish giants Rangers and has now stamped his authority on Frank Lampard’s backline.
It’s hardly shocking that the youngster is ranking so high in one Premier League statistic, considering the effort he puts into his performances.
Football’s largest detailed football statistics website WhoScored, has had its say on Patterson, giving Toffees a lovely little statistic that will come as no surprise.
The football data website highlighted which Premier League talents had made the most tackles in the season so far; Patterson ranked 2nd most in the league with 27 just behind Fulham’s Joao Palhinha.

Injury relief.
Patterson was stretched off for his country on Wednesday night against Ukraine and it was feared that the youngster would be spending a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
It was an anxious wait for Blues; Patterson has become a fan-favourite this season and has been at the forefront of Frank Lampard’s new-look backline.
Nevertheless, it seems Everton will have their tackle-loving full-back on the pitch sooner rather than later after it was confirmed last night that the injury wasn’t as bad as first expected.
This is great news, as the stat shows Patterson has been vital for Lampard’s side this season and it would have been a big blow to lose him for a long period of time.
It would have been even more concerning considering the Scotland international has already had one long-term injury on the sidelines since moving to Merseyside.
Let’s hope Patterson can come back and hit the ground running; this will be music to the ears of Lampard and Everton this weekend.
