Fabrizio Romano: Allan completes medical to quit Everton permanently

Allan has completed a medical with Al Wahda ahead of quitting Everton on a permanent basis, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Guardian journalist shared an image of Allan, 31, holding the kit of the UAE club via his personal Twitter account on Sunday night (25 September) after signing his contract with them “in the last few hours”.

Everton are yet to officially announce the news on their official website.

Good riddance

Allan had some good games in his two years as an Everton player but ultimately, he wasn’t ever good enough and the fact he’s moved to Al Wahda in the UAE Pro League shows just what he’s all about.

He’s not gone there because they’re a big club that usually perform well in the UAE or in the Asian Champions League.

They’ve not won the UAE Pro League since 2009/10 and never do that great in the Asian Champions League either, although last season they did make it to the quarter-finals before losing to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr.

Everton

We all know why he’s gone to the UAE and that reason shows just why it’s a good thing that Everton have got the Brazilian midfielder off their books.

We don’t need players with that kind of mentality around the place and his performances were never that great anyway to suggest that he had an automatic spot in the starting line-up at Goodison Park.

Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell signed better central midfielders than Allan in the summer and while we wish him all the success at a club nobody has heard of in a league nobody cares about, we are glad this deal has been wrapped up.
