Everton still want to sign Cody Gakpo in January, PL move expected after World Cup
Cody Gakpo is still a transfer target for Everton in January and there is an “expectancy” that he will move to the Premier League after the World Cup, say FootballTransfers.
The Toffees were briefly linked with a move for the Netherlands international in the summer transfer window, but the player came closest to joining Leeds on deadline day before having a change of heart and opting to stay with PSV Eindhoven.
But after ten goals in 13 appearances this season so far, interest in the player remains high and journalist Jacques Talbot says Everton are still interested and could make a move to bring him to Goodison Park after the World Cup.

PSV Eindhoven are expected to demand a fee in excess of £40m as they look for a club-record sale, while Leeds, Southampton and Manchester United remain interested too.
As per the report, Old Trafford remains the player’s most likely destination in January.
Dream
Everton have been in need of a new attacking outlet for a while and in the summer they brought in Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay to replace the outgoing Richarlison.
But Gakpo would be an elite signing and someone who takes the level of the attack up a notch, especially alongside Anthony Gordon and a fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He was described as “sensational” by the notorious Twitter account Football Oranje earlier this month.

The problem will undoubtedly be the price, with PSV wanting at least £40m and Everton having well known financial problems that need to be dealt with appropriately.
They were able to sign Amadou Onana for a big fee because the fee was broken down in instalments that allow the club to pay a low up front fee, but whether PSV would be open to a similar deal is unclear.
Competing with the likes of Man United, Leeds and Southampton shouldn’t put Everton off but it will certainly be one hell of a coup if they’re able to pull it off, especially after a World Cup where he is expected to shine.
