Supercomputer predicts Everton relegation possibility after win v Southampton

Everton continued their cracking form over the weekend with a superb 2-1 win against Southampton thanks to goals from Conor Coady and Dwight McNeil.

The Toffees have had a pretty impressive start to the campaign where they have managed to secure 10 points from the first eight matches.

Despite winning back-to-back matches against West Ham United and the Saints, data experts at FiveThirtyEight, as reported by Yorkshire Post, have predicted the Merseyside club to finish in 14th position with an 18% possibility of relegation.

Surprising

Everton have proved to be extremely efficient in the ongoing campaign where they looked like a completely different team to what they were in the previous season.

A lot of credit must be given to Frank Lampard who has transformed the side into one of the hardest to beat in the entire division.

Therefore, it was surprising to see the supercomputer predicting that Everton will finish closer to the relegation zone compared to Leeds United.

Lampard will be hoping that his players will be able to keep the momentum going and secure their third successive win in the competition when they will face Manchester United on October 9 at home.

Looking at the historical record will not give the Toffees fans a lot of hope going into this fixture as the Red Devils have a clear advantage with 37 wins in 60 meetings in the Premier League.

However, the Merseyside club supporters will look at the fact that their team have not lost in any of the last three meetings where they won once and the other two finished in a stalemate [Transfermarkt].
