Everton to pay just £4.5m to sign Conor Coady in ‘excellent’ deal with Wolves, add-ons included – Telegraph
Everton are paying just £4.5million to sign Conor Coady permanently from Wolves with an option-to-buy clause already set to be triggered, according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper reported on 5 October that Coady, 29, will join the Blues for a “remarkably low transfer fee” that will be regarded as “excellent business”.
Coady joined Everton on a season-long loan from Wolves, who’ve since sacked manager Bruno Lage, in the summer and it is understood that the West Midlands club will be unable to recall their former captain in January.

On top of the £4.5million fee, Everton will also pay “a few humble add-ons”, which will depend on Coady’s league appearances at Goodison Park.
The Telegraph claims Coady’s permanent move to Goodison will be completed next summer.
What a signing
Everton’s transfer business has rightly been criticised a lot in recent years.
But no one can slam the club for this deal for Coady.
What on earth were Wolves thinking when they allowed the England international to leave?
They’ve gone backwards after selling their captain, who was at the peak of his career and one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League outside of the big-six.
In Coady and James Tarkowski, Everton have the best defensive pairing for a non-Champions League club – even Manchester United would be lucky to have these options available to them.

Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell deserve massive praise for getting the deals done, especially as Tarkowski joined on a free transfer and Coady is joining on a loan-to-buy for a ridiculously low fee of £4.5million.
Wolves’ loss is our gain and we’ll keep ramming that home all season because we’re so thrilled to see a transfer be so successful.
Hopefully this is a sign of change under Thelwell’s recruitment guidance.
