Frank Lampard preferred January targets outlined for Everton
Everton are likely to try and sign an attacker in the January transfer window, with moves for Mohammed Kudus and Mykhaylo Mudryk all but dead.
The Toffees moved for both attackers towards the end of the transfer window, but Ajax refused to let the Ghanaian leave after selling Antony to Manchester United while Shakhtar Donetsk rejected a bid for the Ukraine winger.
But despite signing Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay during the summer window, Liverpool ECHO journalist Joe Thomas told a fan during a Q&A on the newspaper’s website [4 October] that Lampard will likely try to sign a “flexible” attacker but it depends on how Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s recovery goes between now and then.

The journalist confirmed that moves for Mudryk and Kudus may now be dead in the water following both players’ performances this season in the Champions League, meaning their values are likely to have soared.
Newcastle United have been linked with a £50m move for Mudryk, for example.
Thomas also confirmed that Blackburn ace Ben Brereton-Diaz remains an option but should Calvert-Lewin return to fitness before the winter window and perform well, the club could focus more on a wide player instead.
Excellent
The team so far this season has been solid defensively, and now that gives a great foundation for the attacking players to flourish and perform.
Anthony Gordon, Demarai Gray and Neal Maupay have all started the season really well and Dwight McNeil notched his first goal for the club last weekend too, but they’re still a little bit light.

Calvert-Lewin is yet to make an appearance this season and while there is hope that he can come back into the side and reach his previous levels there must be some doubt, while Salomon Rondon is simply not good enough for this level.
It’s great to hear that there are plans in place for the January transfer window already, but also that the club won’t be signing just anyone and will be waiting to see how the season unravels before making any big decisions.
This is an exciting period for Everton, with everyone pulling in the right direction, and the calibre of player that could join will only increase if performances continue to improve.
