Everton takeover not close at this stage despite US billionaire interest

No substantial talks have taken place over a potential takeover at Everton despite interest from US company LAMF Global Ventures Corp according to the Liverpool Echo.

Bloomberg UK reported (5 October) that preliminary talks are underway with the consortium that is led by George Soros’ nephew Jefferey.

However, The Echo reported (5 October) that no deal is close at this stage despite there being an interest.

It’s also understood that Farhad Moshiri is keen to lead the Toffees into their new £500million stadium at Bramley Moore Dock.

No surprise

It’s no surprise to hear that the takeover talk is slightly premature at this stage. Moshiri will obviously be keen to see Everton into their new stadium and that could well stall any potential deal at this stage.

Furthermore, any takeover will likely be a small share of the club at the moment. Regardless, it’s good to see Everton are an attractive proposition for potential investors. They are one of the UK’s most historic clubs and have the potential to really threaten the top six due to their fan base.

The progress that has been on the pitch and in terms of the backroom structure at the club has been superb over the summer and a takeover to end Moshiri’s reign at the club could well come at a good time.

A fresh start from top to bottom would put Everton in a good position to threaten the upper echelons of English football in the years to come.

However, it would not be a shock for any substantial takeover to have to wait until the Toffees have move into their new stadium.
