Frank Lampard asks Everton board to sign Conor Coady permanently – Simon Phillips

Frank Lampard has asked the Everton board to permanently sign Conor Coady from Wolves, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The England international is currently spending a season-long loan at Goodison Park and it has been reported recently that his contract includes a £4.5million buy-out clause to make his deal permanent [The Telegraph].

Phillips, who works for Chelsea-News and is also the host of the TalkChelsea podcast, has shared while talking to Give Me Sport that the Everton manager asked the board a couple of weeks back to make the deal permanent.

“I was actually told some weeks back that Frank Lampard has already asked the Everton board to sign Coady,” he said.

“He has no doubts.”

Big player

Everton started the season much better than many thought they would and most of it was down to how solid they look at the back where they have proven to be extremely hard to break down.

One of the reasons why they are so defensively solid this time around is because of the centre-back pairing of Coady with James Tarkowski.

The duo has been absolutely brilliant at the back and no wonder the Merseyside club have conceded the least number of goals (seven) out of all the 20 teams in the league competition as of now.

Therefore, it makes total sense that Lampard is pushing for the board to sign the player of Coady’s quality, that too for a meagre fee of less than £5 million.

Ever since arriving at the club, the 29-year-old is average 5.4 clearances per game, fifth-best in the league behind only Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen, Chris Mepham from Bournemouth, Tarkowski and West Ham’s Kurt Zouma [Whoscored].

Get it done.
