Sky Sports pundit predicts Everton could sell Salomon Rondon in January after failed move
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Salomon Rondon might not have a long-term future at Everton but will have to take his chances when they come says Kevin Campbell.
The Venezuelan striker looked to be headed for a move to the UAE this month, similar to that of former teammate Allan, but that failed after he turned down the move in order to fight for his place at Goodison Park.
Sky Sports pundit Campbell accepts that if the move didn’t appeal to him then he wasn’t going to go, but feels that should the 33-year-old get into the team it is likely to result in a more preferable exit rather than a longer stay with the Toffees.

He exclusively told Goodison News: “If [the move] doesn’t appeal to him then obviously he stays where he is. You can call it ‘fight for your place’ or just ‘be a member of the squad’.
“When you get your chances you’ve got to take them, that’s the name of the game.
“But I’m sure if he doesn’t really have a future long-term at the club, then we’ll see. Maybe he’s got to be involved, playing well, and then maybe something could happen in January.”

Sharjah FC may not be what Rondon is after but his prospects on Merseyside aren’t especially bright after just three goals for the club, and only one in the Premier League.
Before the arrival of Neal Maupay from Brighton late in the transfer window, Frank Lampard was often choosing to field Anthony Gordon as a false nine while leaving the former Newcastle and West Brom forward on the bench.
If the only fit central striker in the senior squad isn’t a shoe-in for the starting XI when Everton are struggling for goals it doesn’t seem likely he will get extensive opportunities to prove himself now the Frenchman has been signed and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back in the equation.
