Yannick Bolasie loves what he saw from Everton in first half v Manchester United
It didn’t take Everton long to send Goodison Park wild on Sunday night (9 October) as they went ahead after just five minutes against Manchester United.
The Toffees’ press was activated to force Casemiro into an error and the ball eventually fell for Alex Iwobi who can do no wrong at the moment, curling a delightful strike into the top corner from the edge of the area.
It wasn’t just those inside Goodison Park who loved what they saw from the Nigerian international as former Evertonian Yannick Bolasie jumped to Twitter to express his thoughts on the fabulous goal.
“Iwobi is on. Confidence, I love that!!!!” the Democratic Republic of Congo international said as the Toffees piled the pressure on Erik Ten Hag’s Red Devils.
The lead was short-lived though as Antony equalised for the away side with a very tidy finish on his left foot having got in behind Vitaliy Mykolenko.
Player of the season
If the Premier League handed out a player of the season award after nine matches… it would go to Erling Haaland. But if he wasn’t given it, then Iwobi would be right up there on the list.
He has just come alive ever since being moved into central midfield last season by Frank Lampard and yet he still has the attacking intent and quality to find the very top corner in such a situation.

He has found another level though recently with the arrivals of Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gana Gueye there to stabilise the midfield behind him.
With the solidity in place, he can have the freedom to express himself in the final third and that is when he looks at his most dangerous, playing some very enticing balls for his fellow teammates.
But until now, he has not been the goal-scoring midfielder Everton have been craving for so Lampard will be praying that this is the start of a glorious run of goal contributions.
