Everton auditors tell club they want out amid concerns over Farhad Moshiri

Accounting firm BDO, who are the Everton auditors, have reportedly told the club that they want out amid concerns over the ownership.

According to the Guardian on October 12, they have raised questions over the finances and Farhad Moshiri’s ownership of the club.

They have informed the Toffees that they will not be conducting the work with the club now believed to be looking at alternatives.

No surprises

The finances at Goodison Park are always precarious and we’ve seen over the past few years how it’s landed the club on the brink of FFP bans.

The excess spending coupled with Alisher Usmanov’s involvement has made things appear shadier than normal and even after the oligarch has left, there still is turmoil behind the scenes.

Moshiri is believed to be looking for a way out and has put the club up for sale, but any takeover is a lengthy process and we’re not expecting resolutions on it any time soon.

There have been talks over a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) buying the club and they’ve got American millions backing the proposed acquisition.

Should this takeover go ahead, it could even see Everton being listed on the United States Stock Exchange, something that will bring up more challenges.

We’re unsure as to what clearly ticked off the auditors but it has to be something major that they’ve refused to carry out their work which has seen the club already eyeing replacements.
