Everton in double injury boost as duo spotted in individual training
Frank Lampard could soon have two of his defensive options back fit after training pictures emerged from Everton on Thursday (13 October).
Ben Godfrey has been out of action since the opening day of the season after a nasty-looking fall against Chelsea while Nathan Patterson picked up his own injury on international duty with Scotland in September.
But both have been progressing well and this week saw the duo both reach a significant milestone in their recoveries as they returned to the grass in training.
The official Everton Twitter account shared two images of the players running with the caption “Back doing individual work,” which suggests neither have been reintegrated into the first team just yet.
Neither are therefore expected to feature against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday (15 October) where former Toffee Richarlison is also a doubt for the game.
Needed
In Godfrey’s absence, Conor Coady and James Tarkowski have firmly cemented themselves as the club’s starting central defensive duo but to have a really good backup is crucial if they need to be changed for any reason.
That’s what the Englishman brings to the table by being head and shoulders better than Mason Holgate, who does a similar role of covering centre-half and right-back.

Patterson, meanwhile, would surely walk straight back into the team after he looked so good at the start of the season both going forward and in defence.
Seamus Coleman has done a fine job as ever in his absence but there is something special about the 20-year-old Scottish international that can’t be ignored.
Lampard would be foolish not to bring him straight back in once he is fully fit to do so to keep putting his trust in him and hope to maintain the Premier League’s best defensive record.
All Everton need to do is find out how to score more goals and they will rocket up the league table in a matter of moments.
