Brazilian journalist claims rumours of Yerry Mina leaving Everton are a ‘big lie’
Yerry Mina was linked with an Everton exit earlier this week, but Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has now refuted the claims.
Mina has completely fallen out of Frank Lampard’s plans at Everton this season, with James Tarkowski and Conor Coady coming in over the summer to take his place.
The Colombian defender has therefore naturally been linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with Brazilian outlet Torcedores suggesting he’d been offered to a handful of clubs in North and South America.

However, just days after that report emerged, Nicola has now claimed that the rumour is a “big lie”.
Speaking via his YouTube channel, Nicola insisted there is “no chance” that Mina departs Merseyside for Brazil anytime soon due to his salary and contract with the Toffees.
Needs to go
Whether it’s to Brazil or not, Everton needs to find a way to offload Mina in either January or next summer.
The 28-year-old seemed a great signing following his move in 2018, but his lack of availability paired with his reckless defending style proved that he wasn’t exactly what the Toffees needed at centre-back.

Lampard immediately pushed Mina down the pecking order following his appointment at Everton, and he urgently brought in defensive reinforcements in the summer. That alone tells you how much he doesn’t trust Mina in defence.
Mina’s initial five-year contract does expire next summer, but the Toffees would much rather get his wage bill off the books at Goodison Park.
Therefore, if a suitor does arrive in January, expect the club to move swiftly to agree a deal for his departure – even if the fee is tiny.
Everton’s defence looks as good as it has done for the past decade with Coady and Tarkowski at the back. Mina’s time in Merseyside is evidently done, so it’s time to get rid.
