Everton must sell Nathan Broadhead permanently in January
Nathan Broadhead has become a curious case for Everton over recent years, with the promising youngster turning into an experienced professional whilst still remaining on loan.
A 24-year-old on loan to a Championship club has shades of Chelsea loaning out Michy Batshuayi to Besiktas at the age of 28. It just doesn’t really benefit anyone involved.
Broadhead has been a promising player in recent years and enjoyed good loan spells at Burton Albion and Sunderland. In fact, Everton offered the striker a new contract (3 August) to ensure he remains at Goodison Park beyond when his current deal expires in 2023.

Quite why he was offered a new deal remains to be seen, with the striker yet to score a goal for Everton having not really been given a first-team chance. It’s clear that he isn’t up to the level required to compete in Frank Lampard’s plans.
Broadhead is currently on loan at Championship side Wigan Athletic and has yet to really hit the goalscoring trail for Leam Richardson’s men. Considering he hasn’t hit the ground running this season, Everton should completely reverse their summer contract offer and look to offload Broadhead in January.

With his deal up in the summer, there is a chance a Championship side would be willing to fork out a small fee for the striker who has scored 18 goals in 62 appearances across the EFL (Transfermarkt).
This scenario needs to come to an end soon to allow Broadhead to find a permanent home where he can properly kick on with his career. It will also get another player off of Everton’s wage bill, which gives Lampard more room to play with in January.
