Everton shareholder Mike Parry slams Dominic Calvert-Lewin VAR decision v Fulham

Everton shareholder Mike Parry was clearly not happy with the decision to call Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s run as offside against Fulham on Saturday.

In his defence, the England international was in line with the Cottagers’ defender when the ball was played but was only faster on his feet which made him look offside.

The footage which he shared, however, clearly shows that the Toffees forward strayed into an offside position when the pass was played.

Via Twitter, Parry wrote, “This is what is so terribly wrong about the interpretation of the off-side rule in Prem Lge football today and VAR .. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was clearly alongside the Fulham defender when the ball was released to him. He just happened to be faster on his feet.”

Right call

We have to disagree with Parry here as we do not see too much wrong with the call made by the VAR.

Had it been the shoulder or armpit then probably he would have a good case for it being the wrong call and we would be fuming too.

VAR has plenty of criticisms and plenty of examples to back those criticisms up but this unfortunately, is not one of them.

Everton were lucky to get a point from this game which ended 0-0 and have Jordan Pickford to thank for not losing it.

The England number one was called into action twice in the first ten minutes and pulled off some impressive saves early on which set the tone for the game.

His two saves within seconds certainly caught the eye of Gary Lineker who then took to Twitter to wax lyrical over his performance.
