Michael Ball delivers strong message to Everton ahead of Leicester clash
Michael Ball has suggested that Everton can beat any Premier League side at Goodison Park on their day.
The Toffees will face Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday (5 November) at Goodison Park, and Ball, who also works for BBC, has suggested that Frank Lampard’s side should be able to pick up three points.
Everton find themselves 12th in the league table, with only three wins so far.
“Next up for the Blues is another tough game against Leicester City,” wrote Ball for the Liverpool Echo.
“Brendan Rodgers’ side endured a tough start to the campaign – and it looked at one point like the Northern Irishman could be relieved of his duties at the King Power.
“However, to his and his side’s credit, they have really turned things around in recent weeks. Plus, they have got players who can hurt us, as they have done in the past.
“But this is a home game – and the time has come for us to make Goodison Park the fortress we all know it can be. I honestly believe that on our day we can beat anyone at home.
“So as we prepare to head to Goodison for the final time before the World Cup break this weekend, my message is a clear one: let’s get Goodison rocking and push Frank and the players towards another huge three points.”
Huge game
The Toffees have shown signs of improvement under Frank Lampard. They are solid defensively, and they are picking up wins at home.
But this is a team in transition and Lampard will require two or three more big windows to sculpt the squad to his own taste.
The Toffees probably need to change their attitude a bit. When they are playing away from home, it feels like Lampard’s primary objective is to play safe and pick up a point.
In the first half against Fulham at Craven Cottage, Everton created a few very good chances, but they looked surprisingly flat in the second half, with hardly any creativity.
They need to pick up wins away from home as well. Leicester have struggled badly this season, but the performances have improved in recent weeks.
Having said that, the Toffees play with more confidence while playing at Goodison Park, and we can expect them to win on Saturday.
