Everton defender Nathan Patterson shares ankle injury update

Everton right-back Nathan Patterson has suggested that he is feeling better after picking up an ankle injury.

Patterson was playing incredibly well under Frank Lampard before he picked up an injury against Ukraine whilst on international duty for Scotland.

After returning to action, he appeared to have picked a freakish new ankle injury, but Patterson has confirmed that he is now fully fit and raring to go.

“I’m feeling a lot better. My ankle feels strong. I rolled it a wee bit but it seems to be fine, so I‘m just looking forward to the games and hopefully, I can get more minutes,” said Patterson to evertonfc.com.

Need him back

Patterson played the final 26 minutes against Fulham in the 0-0 draw away at Craven Cottage on 29 October, where he made a comeback after a long injury lay-off.

The youngster played only 20 minutes against Leicester City in the 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park on 5 November.

The 21-year-old joined the club in the January transfer window, signed by Rafa Benitez, and he has been absolutely terrific for the club.

He has made seven Premier League starts this season, with his attacking qualities and defensive attributes heavily praised by the Everton fans and pundits.

The only issue with Patterson is that he tends to pick up freakish injuries every now and then, and that could hamper his progress. Let’s hope he can stay injury free for the rest of the season.

In his absence, Seamus Coleman has done a fantastic job. With only one Premier League game left before the World Cup, it remains to be seen if Lampard picks him in the starting line-up for that or the Carabao Cup game, both against Bournemouth.
