Everton want to sign Issahaku Fatawu after Champions League scouting mission

Everton are keeping close tabs on Sporting Lisbon’s young talent Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, according to a report from the Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.

The 18-year-old is a cracking talent and FIFA considers him one of the five rising stars to watch out for at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to be held later this month.

The Toffees scouts have watched him in action during the Champions League game against Tottenham Hotspur last month. The likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are also vying for his signature.

The youngster arrived at the Portuguese club in April and has made only six appearances for the senior side.

He is a regular player for the B-team and could be one of the rising stars for the World Cup in Qatar.

Liverpool have scouted him heavily but Jurgen Klopp didn’t proceed with the signing during the summer.

The Toffees are usually on the lookout for talents in the Portuguese league, and it remains to be seen whether they will turn this scouting mission into something concrete in January.

The youngster has a contract at the club until 2026, and if he performs well in the World Cup, his value is bound to rise.

The Toffees do need to sign an attacking midfielder in the January window. Demarai Gray has cut a frustrating figure, and the Toffees need more creativity in their forward areas.

Lampard should look to sign players who can make an immediate impact. At the same time, Lampard has a track record of working wonders with young talents, and Fatawu could come into his main plans as well.

Fatawu is a promising talent and the Toffees have a big challenge on their hands to lure him to Goodison Park, especially with other big clubs interested.
