Laura Woods speaks out about Everton exit shouts for Frank Lampard, Ally McCoist reacts live on talkSPORT
Laura Woods and Ally McCoist believe calls for Frank Lampard to be sacked at Everton after their Carabao Cup exit are too far.
The Toffees got battered 4-1 in a poor showing on Tuesday night (8 November), after Lampard made 11 changes to his starting lineup for the game against Premier League opposition.
Speaking on the talkSPORT breakfast show (9 November, 06:42) Woods shared that some Everton fans had been calling for the manager to go, which she and McCoist disagreed with, but then shared a shocking stat that had the former Rangers striker worrying for the team.
“Calls on Twitter as well to sack Frank Lampard,” she said. “I think that’s probably going a bit too far.”
McCoist replied immediately and agreed with her.
“But I understand the frustration, you just heard there, of travelling fans,” she continued.
“Liverpool to Bournemouth is a long way isn’t it, on a cold, dark night and to feel like your team haven’t turned up, making defensive errors.
“I’ve got a stat for you aswell, Everton have allowed Fulham, Leicester and Bournemouth 58 shots between them in the last three games.
McCoist reacted to that, and was concerned.
“That’s a concern that stat,” he said. “I saw at the weekend and looking at that statistic, law of averages will tell you that if you’re losing or giving up that many chances or attempts at your goal, some are going to go in and you’ve got to score goals to win games.”

Poor
Lampard has been at the club for nine months now and the improvements the team have made under his guidance are clear for all to see.
The team used to struggle to defend, run, create and score goals, and this season defensively they have been one of the better sides in the division this season.
Going forward is still an issue, but it’s more an issue with the quality of player he has at his disposal more than anything else which is obviously something he can’t do much about.
Calling for him to leave seems like a backwards step unless the next manager can be a guaranteed improvement, and with the position we’re in right now we can’t do that.
We’d be better off backing Lampard, giving him what he needs to succeed and supporting him and this team because is the most likeable squad we’ve had in a very long time.
