Finance Expert: Everton could earn new £40million revenue after Bramley-Moore Dock developments

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...

Everton could now earn up to £40million-per-year with added non-footballing events at the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium once it is finalised, according to Dan Plumley.

The Finance Expert has insisted that the Toffees can bank huge new sums by adding some premium new events to their calendar outside of Premier League matchday revenue.

It comes after Football Insider reported that Everton were looking to hold four “major” non-footballing events as well as smaller events throughout each year at the new development.

“To context that in relation to other revenue streams, it’s not going to be as big as the TV money,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“It’s not going to be as big as a collective matchday income, however, what it does give you is an additional revenue stream whereby there will be gains to be made and even if those gains are a few million quid at the end of the day, that is still money in the club pocket that will benefit them.

“You’ve only got 19 nailed on matchday in the Premier League, you may get a couple of cup fixtures at home, but Everton aren’t in Europe at the moment, so what do you do with that stadium when it’s not being used for the other amount of days in the year.

“The conferencing and the smaller side of the events will give you regular income but on a small level but it still generates bits over time.

The four non-football events we are talking about here would be the ones that generate, lows of tens of millions, if you look at Spurs, they make roughly £6million per matchday, so if you imagine a full stadium for another event, and maybe put some premium on it for some of the deals that are signed, you could be talking in the low of tens of millions which is probably the benchmark target.

“If you get four of them, that could be £30million or £40million. You can get to realistic ballparks, it won’t be the biggest part of Everton’s revenue, but if you can generate pushing towards £40million in a year, that’s a significant amount of money that the club can use elsewhere.”

It has been made no secret that Farhad Moshiri is always on the lookout for new investments at Everton.

Now, that could have been handed to him on a plate at the new stadium, something he will already be rubbing his hands together at the prospect of happening.
