Everton under FFP constraints in January as Premier League relegation battle begins
Everton are said to be yet again struck by “huge” financial constraints ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.
The online outlet has reported on its website that the Toffees’ have been dealt a major blow in their bid to avoid relegation in the Premier League under Frank Lampard.
It is shared that it will be a small transfer kitty available from Farhad Moshiri, with loans and free agents said to be targeted by Kevin Thelwell and his team.
Pressure is growing on Lampard at Goodison Park, especially after that thrashing at Bournemouth left his side one point above the relegation zone through this World Cup break.
The sale of Richarlison allowed big-money purchases including the likes of Amadou Onana, Neal Maupay and Dwight McNeil for the Toffees.
Obviously, with FFP concerns still rife, there is a worry that another big-name exit may need to take place in order for the club to avoid further problems.
Shocking.
This just isn’t good enough, and if we continue to go down this.
Everton are just going to keep going down this same rabbit hole in every single transfer window if Farhad Moshiri doesn’t take steps to reduce this financial issue.
Just throwing money at the squad each year and not making changes just means that the FFP constraints will never disappear, especially with the losses in the accounts.
We would not mind if the money that has been spent had created big success on the pitch, but it has done the complete opposite with relegation closer than even just being mid-table.
Thelwell will have his work cut out to please Lampard in January with loans and free agent moves, but that is the harsh reality he finds himself in as he now has to earn his keep on Merseyside – something that few have done over the past couple of years at the club.
Everton are in trouble, again.
