BBC pundit wowed by ‘extra special’ Ange Postecoglou as Everton manager move development emerges for Celtic boss
Pat Nevin doesn’t see Ange Postecoglou being able to apply his style of play to the Everton squad after the Celtic manager was linked with a move to Goodison Park.
Newspaper journalist Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon account on Sunday (13 November) that the Blues board are concerned about the team’s form under Frank Lampard and Aussie boss Postecoglou has emerged as a front-runner should the current manager at Goodison gets sacked.
Everton’s board are said to be fans of Postecoglou’s tactical approach at Celtic Park.

However, BBC Radio 5 Live pundit and ex-Evertonian Nevin feels it would take a long time for Postecoglou to fully implement his philosophy.
And while Nevin would like to see the former Australia manager have a go at managing in the Premier League, he doesn’t feel that a move to Goodison would be a good fit at this moment in time.
“One day Ange Postecoglou will get a chance at the top level in England because he brings something extra special and really unusual,” Nevin told Grosvenor Sport, as quoted by the Glasgow Times.
“You watch Celtic games under him with a big cheesy grin on your face because they’re so positive and they’ll run until they fall down.
“The problem is that if they fall down after 70 minutes then they get battered as we’ve found out. It’d be a difficult thing to do in England but boy I’d love someone to try it.
“If Everton lured Ange down to England, they’d have to give him at least two transfer windows to get people who can do it for him as the current players at Everton are not that style.
“You can’t do ‘Angeball’ with the players that are at Everton right now so I’m not sure he’d be the right fit just now.”

Who is the right man?
Some Evertonians will say that it’s still Lampard.
Others might say it’s anyone but him.
We doubt many will be saying it’s Postecoglou.
We don’t want to talk down the job that the Greek-born Aussie boss as done at Celtic Park because the way he’s transformed Celtic has been quite unbelievable.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers were an unstoppable, unbeatable force in the 2020/21 season but Postecoglou came in, revamped the entire squad and won the league title back fairly easily even though Rangers were in the sort of form that got them to a Europa League final.
Postecoglou used his links in Australia and Japan to build a really good-looking squad and domestically, he’s done almost everything he can do as Celtic manager.
But there’s a difference between managing in Scotland’s top-flight and the English Premier League.
Look at how Steven Gerrard has done at Rangers.
But, then again, Brendan Rodgers and Martin O’Neill are two examples of managers who left Celtic and went on to do well in jobs in the Premier League.
Right now, we’re happy with Lampard but he needs to sort out a big mess over this break while January additions are obviously needed too.
