Shakhtar Donetsk want £87.75m for Everton target Mykhaylo Mudryk

Shakhtar Donetsk have slapped an £87.75m price tag on Everton target Mykhaylo Mudryk following his stellar start to the season, The Athletic reports.

Everton were one of two Premier League clubs to make approaches for the 21-year-old last summer, while Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle United have more recently expressed their interest in the starlet.

Mudryk has impressed under the Champions League spotlight this season, scoring in home and away games against Celtic and scoring once and assisting two further goals against Red Bull Leipzig.

The Athletic reported that Donetsk values the attacker at a similar price to the world’s elite, stating: “The club’s chief executive Sergei Palkin said that Mudryk’s ceiling is so high that he has only hit around 60 per cent of his potential so far.

“Srna said he rates Mudryk as among the best young talents in his position and the former Croatian international footballer Srna said he is only behind PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr.

“The club’s director Carlo Nicolini mentioned a €100m price tag in one recent interview.”

Big clubs on high alert

If Everton had any wish of signing Mudryk, the summer was their one and probably the final chance of securing the young sensation.

The Toffees’ £30 million summer bid now seems a bargain considering the breathtaking start to the season Mudryk has had, with a host of big clubs such as Manchester City, Arsenal, and Newcastle likely to outprice the Merseyside club in the coming transfer windows.

The Ukrainian’s stock has risen exponentially this season after scoring five goals and notching up a further six assists from just 10 appearances this season.

The 21-year-old would be a perfect match for Frank Lampard’s stuttering Toffees, who have struggled for creativity and goals after failing to acquire a high-calibre attacker in the summer.

Everton’s only glimmer of hope is that Mudryk stated in a recent interview that he would rather join a team where he would play on a weekly basis instead of warming the bench at one of Europe’s elite clubs.
