Robbie Fowler shares what Everton friends say about Richarlison

Richarlison stole headlines this week after scoring a brace for Brazil in the World Cup, just months after he left Everton.

The Brazilian has had to play second fiddle to Harry Kane in north London, but he was handed a starting spot for his nation in the World Cup and rewarded Brazil manager Tite with a brace against Serbia.

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has discussed the 25-year-old via his Sunday Mirror column (27 November, Pg 79), where he revealed what his Everton friends told him about Richarlison.

“It’s looking good for him. He loves the big stage, the bigger the game the better,” wrote Fowler.

“I’ve got a lot of mates who watch Everton and the one thing they all mentioned about Richarlison was his fantastic work ethic.

“Sometimes that goes unnoticed because of his flamboyant goal attempts, but he does work hard and hates losing.”

Heart on his sleeve

Richarlison was a loved figure at Everton and not many fans were bitter towards the Brazilian when he departed the club in the summer.

His wind-up tactics were a joy to watch – when he is on your side – and he contributed with some huge goals for the club when Everton needed it most.

He could occasionally be frustrating but he made up for it with his hard work and determination. Richarlison never complained about tracking back and he always put in a shift when the side were up against it.

The Toffees have certainly missed his presence this season. Neal Maupay was brought in as his replacement but the Frenchman has failed to fill his boots. He has a similarly tenacious attitude but cannot provide the same output that Richarlison offered.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could help Everton forget about Richarlison’s goals, but he can’t stay fit long enough to piece together a run of games.
