Everton-linked Guido Rodriguez slapped with £21.5m price tag by Real Betis

If Everton are to buy Guido Rodriguez in January, they will have to pay a hefty sum to Real Betis, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The 28-year-old is seemingly hankering for a move away from the La Liga club and the Toffees are a potential team who could give him the path out of the Spanish side.

Rodriguez would cost £21.5million in January should anybody choose to try and sign him as Everton did in the summer when they saw a £17.2million bid rejected by Betis.

Manchester United also attempted to sign the Argentine midfielder in the summer but they too were turned down as their £17.2million offer came over a longer period of time.

Betis also have to consider future sell-on fees that are owed to River Plate and Tijuana which will see their total profits decrease so they are unlikely to waiver from the set price.

Forget it

If this was a hungry, young Rodriguez at 22 or 23 years of age then maybe spending £21.5million could be justified but he is not worth that amount of money right now.

There are far more pressing concerns for Frank Lampard to deal with right now than the midfield where he arguably has one of the stronger groups in the Premier League.

James Garner can’t seem to get a game at the moment which shows just how well Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Alex Iwobi have been playing this season.

Rodriguez would just sit on the bench and watch that trio go to work each week with the occasional appearance off the bench to spice things up.

That would be a waste of £21.5million when the club could desperately do with creative wingers or another potent striker instead which is something the Toffees have been severely lacking thanks to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury woes.
