PSV agree to terminate Everton loan deal for Jarrad Branthwaite, Jose Mourinho now wants January deal
PSV are set to terminate Jarrad Branthwaite’s loan deal in January with the Everton defender struggling for game-time in the Netherlands, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on Thursday (8 December, page 73) that the Eindhoven club has agreed to let Branthwaite, 20, cut short his deal early as he’s made just four starts since his summer move there.
It is understood that the England Under-20s defender will seek another loan in January with Jose Mourinho’s Roma one of the clubs interested in taking him.

Good decision
Branthwaite’s loan at PSV has been a bit of a failure.
The versatile centre-back has played just 12 times in all competitions for PSV with Ruud van Nistelrooy using him more as a substitute than a starter.
PSV’s form hasn’t been too great this season having lost four Eredivisie matches already on top of being knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers.
Branthwaite played a major role in a 2-0 win against Arsenal on 27 October in the Europa League group stages.
He started that game but lasted just 80 minutes before van Nistelrooy hooked him.
The Everton defender has completed 90 minutes on just three occasions at PSV so it doesn’t seem worthwhile for him to stay there in the second half of the season.

We doubt he’ll play much more at Roma though.
Mourinho has Gianluca Mancini, Chris Smalling, Roger Ibañez and Marash Kumbulla as centre-back options as well as left-back options in Leonardi Spinazzola and Matias Vina.
Branthwaite wouldn’t be more than an extra option in Rome so it might be best that he’s sent out on loan to a Championship club in England where he’ll play plenty of games.
