PSV Eindhoven in talks to keep Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite after winter break
PSV Eindhoven wish to keep Everton loanee Jarrad Branthwaite at the club beyond the January transfer window, according to Rik Elfrink.
The AD Sportwereld journalist has shared on Twitter [8 December] this morning that the Dutch club are in talks with Everton to allow them to keep the defender beyond the winter break.
The fresh update appears to be a new twist as Daily Mail reported via their print edition on Thursday (8 December, page 73) that PSV are set to terminate the youngster’s loan deal.

Elfrink adds in a separate tweet that Branthwaite would love to stay at the club, and this could be an important factor while discussing the loan deal with Everton.
“PSV is trying to continue the rental of Jarrad Branthwaite after the winter break. The club is talking to Everton,” wrote Elfrink on Twitter.
“Important: Branthwaite would also like to stay with PSV, he has indicated. This is an important support for PSV in the talks with Everton,” he added in a separate tweet.
Twist
Branthwaite joined PSV on loan during the summer and he has made only four starts for the Dutch club.
The Daily Mail reported that the England Under-20s defender will seek another loan in January, with Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma interested in signing him.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has mainly used him from the bench, and in total, he has made 12 appearances for the club.
The 20-year-old was superb during PSV’s 4-3 win against Feyenoord and also impressed in the 2-0 win against Arsenal in the Europa League.

PSV are in the title race once again, and they are only three points behind Feyenoord at the top. They share the same points with Ajax, and it promises to be a three-horse title race that could go down to the wire.
Everton should allow Branthwaite to stay at the Dutch club. Obviously, it would be ideal for him to play regularly, but he is gathering some invaluable experiences.
He has already played in European games and should enjoy the pressure of being on a side that is fighting for the title. Let’s see, how it pans out in the next few days.
