Everton must recall Sir John Moores’ comments in Premier League survival fight
Sir John Moores is a revered figure in the history of Everton Football Club but his words have to be ushered more around Goodison Park.
The Toffees had to fight tooth and nail to survive relegation last season and the new campaign has seen Frank Lampard’s side suffer further poor results.
17th in the Premier League and only above the drop on goal difference is simply not good enough for Everton in any era and Moores’ stirring words in the club’s official history video have to be plastered everywhere as a constant reminder.

“Everton expects success. We’ve a very good crowd and our crowd are very loyal. But, of course, they pay money and they expect to see us do well. If we don’t do well then something should be done about it and something will be done about it,” he said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
Those words should already be front and centre at the club’s training ground as a daily dose of motivation for the players and staff but there will soon be a new facility to focus on.
The new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium is set to hold over 50,000 people when full and Everton have not had attendances that high since their league-winning season of 1961-62.

They have the chance to restore the pride of the supporters again when they make the move from Goodison to the banks of the Mersey but they won’t be doing it in the Championship.
Survival in the top flight has never been more paramount than it is in these economical times and with a £500million ground under construction.
Lampard is usually a fairly switched on bloke so should be aware of the famous line said by Moores and if he has any initiative left in him, he will find a way to incorporate it.
