Everton defender Nathan Patterson discusses Rangers return after seeing Europa League final v Eintracht Frankfurt

Everton defender Nathan Patterson admits that he has unfinished business at Rangers despite winning them their 55th league title.

The Scotland international moved to Goodison Park in January 2022 and has become an integral part of the first team under Frank Lampard.

Last season, he went to Seville in Spain to watch his former side play Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League final where they ended up losing on penalties.

Everton

Patterson told the Daily Record, “There’s a bit of unfinished business for me. I was involved in 55 but I’d like to go back and get more titles.

“I went to Seville last summer for the Europa League Final and hoped they could win it but they just fell short. Just seeing Rangers in a European final again was massive, though, and it shows how far the club has come.

“But right now, I’m really happy at Everton and want to continue to progress here and I’m fully focused on doing well at Goodison.”

Bit weird

Players do not tend to talk about returning to their former clubs less than a year before moving teams.

While Patterson does admit he’s happy to be at Everton, it still seems strange that he’s flirting with a return to Ibrox.

He could’ve just said that he misses life in Scotland but is enjoying where he is right now and wants to take the Toffees to the next level.

We’re hoping that it’s not one of the situations where the 21-year-old is already regretting his move south of the border because he seems to have adapted pretty perfectly.

Regardless, Lampard must continue trying to get the best out of him because Patterson when fit is undoubtedly a better pick than Seamus Coleman.

He already seems to be a favourite in the dressing room with Asmir Begovic already labelling him as having the potential of being one of the best.
