Everton owner Farhad Moshiri spotted at World Cup game amid speculation over business negotiations

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri was seen sitting in the director’s box Sheikh Dr. Khalid, who is the chairman of Board of Directors of the DarAlSharq Group.

This meeting took place during the Argentina v Netherlands World Cup clash on 9 December which according to the Liverpool Echo led to speculation over official business negotiations.

However, as it turns out, he wanted to see up close the operation of new stadiums and also cheer on Everton duo Jordan Pickford and Conor Coady against France.

Via Twitter, The Peninsula Qatar wrote, “Chairman of Board of Directors of #DarAlSharq Group H E Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani meets with Farhad Moshiri, President and Owner of Everton FC, during the match between #ARG and #Netherlands, held yesterday at Lusail Stadium.”

More to it?

Moshiri needs to make the most of his time in Qatar and not just admire the stadiums and enjoy the games.

There have been talks about him selling the club and it’ll make sense to discuss that as there are going to be potentially interested people from all around the world.

It can also be used as the perfect opportunity to get additional funding for the stadium as the club are not in the best financial shape and are flirting with FFP sanctions for over a year now.

Dr Khalid is the chairman of the Qatar International Islamic Bank so there could be more to the meeting than what’s being reported.

Regardless, Moshiri needs to finalise the next steps of Everton before this season ends as his reign appears to be on its final legs.

We’re hoping that it goes ahead without any hindrances and that the new owners help realise the potential of this historic football club.
